Pure luck, she deemed it, as she strode to the library from the Herbology greenhouse, number two to be exact. She'd caught Professor Sprout just before she'd closed up, and was lucky enough to get her hands on a copy of Magical Water Plants of the Mediterranean (on loan, of course.)
Dell knew the Ravenclaw Common Room would be too noisy to enjoy her new book in peace, so she contented herself with going to the library. Smiling to herself, the girl found a table off in the corner, away from a couple of students in the front. Not that she didn't like them, no, but she was extremely shy and tended to keep to herself, especially around her friends. Though she was watning to enjoy her new book, she couldn't get this Muggle song out of her head...
'Hey there Delilah what's it like in New York City? I'm a thousand miles away but girl tonight you look so pretty, yes you do. Time Square can't shine as bright as you. I swear it's true.'
It was an older song that her parents used to listen to, apparantly, when they were dating and her ever-busy father was away on business. Not only was she named for the girl in the song, but her father used to sing it to her as a child whenever he was home. It was recently remade back in America, and Delilah memorized it and found herself falling in love with it too.
Opening her book, she tucked a strand of golden hair that had fallen loose from her ponytail behind her ear. Her clear blue eyes focused on the task before her, she appeared to be in extreme concentration; in actuality she was still replaying the song in her head.
'Hey there Delilah, don't you worry about the distance. I'm right there- if you get lonely give this song another listen. Close your eyes. Listen to my voice it's my disguise. I'm by your side'
She was so immersed in her "reading" and the song, that she didn't notice when footsteps approached.

Remus reslung his school bag on his shoulder, so it wouldn't slide off. Inside, despite what his friends thought, were just a few books and some materials to being his homework. Normally he would have started it yesterday, but his mind had been occupied, as had been his time. James didn't want to leave school, Ripley was making things awkward and his homework was piling up. Which wasn't normal because Remus was usually on top of things.
Walking into the Library he saw the emptiness and felt better, the solitude of the place and the lack of peole as comforting. That is unless you wished you at least had somebody to sit next to and converse every once in a while. He always wondered what it would be like to be a little different, well he was, but in the sense that he wasn't so innocent. Wouldn't that be interesting? Yes he proved that with James and Sirius having him hammered and then pushed into the nearest girl.
So he made his way to a table near the back, and adjacent to some shelves full of books and saw it was only occupied by a blond Ravenclaw. Lo and behold, it was just Delilah, the girl that he had happened to be with the night of his once little escapade. They managed to stick it behind them, no big deal, at least he could tell James and Sirius that he wasn't a virgin, it was only Peter left and that didn't have much luck behind it. "May I sit here?" His deep voice drawled on, his blue eyes looking at hers.

"May I sit here?"
It was easy to say that Dell was a bit startled, having been so immersed in the song. So immersed that, in fact, it had almost been like Madame Pince had placed a Muggle radio on the table in front of her, cranked up the volume and left.
She jumped slightly, her clear blue eyes lifting up to see...
"Remus." she said with a soft smile, marking her page (the second one only) with a marker and setting it down. A soft smile passed over her lips as she regarded her friend. Things had been a little shaky ever since that night... They'd both been horridly drunk, but Delilah was pretty sure she remembered just about everything. She didn't think she could've picked a better boy to lose her virginity to.
Patting the seat beside her and letting her smile widen a bit, Dell's eyes sparkled up at him. She always always happy to see Remus, he was a lot more like her than Sirius or James. It was nice to have someone else with the same reservations as she had, pretty much. Tucking back that stubborn lock of hair once again, she moved her bag to the other side of her chair so he could sit down. "Finally escape from the dynamic duo?" he questioned in her typical soft, melodic voice.

Remus must have realized that she was reading and probably caught up in it. Sometimes he did the samething himself, but he wasn't some stranger randomly walking up to her, so things were good. He couldn't read the book title upside-down, so he didn't try, though it looked like a Herbology book. As Lily put it he was a 'Grade A guy', so naturally it wouldn't be bad to be in his company when both drunk.
Her smile told him that his presence was accepted and not rejected for any reason. One thing that kept him good friends wtih her was their habits. Both studious types and actually serious about school. Too bad the same couldn't be said for his other friends. Remus watched as she pushed her hair out of her face, sometimes he wondered what would have happened if they had become an item or something sooner. He figured it might have worked.
"Yea, had to get some homework done, they're probably off pranking Snape or something." He said taking out his Astronomy book. Essays for that class were sure delightful. "So what have you been up to?" He asked, delaying his homework for conversation a little.

"Yea, had to get some homework done, they're probably off pranking Snape or something."
Delilah let a small sigh pass her lips and shook her head slightly. "Those two..." she muttered, pulling up her legs so that she was sitting indian style in the chair. You could tell that she wasn't going anywhere special that day; she was simply wearing a pair of gray sweatpants and a Ravenclaw shirt that read "Also? I can kill you with my brain." on the front. James had bought it for her and she'd laughed.
"I don't see why they pick on him so much." she admitted with a light frown. "I mean, honestly, I know he's up a tree with them sometimes but they tend to go too far." She said, still a bit softly, this was about as outspoken as she got, unless something really set her off. "I kinda feel sorry for him."
Leaving her thoughts of Snape behind for the moment, she reached over and took his hand, briefly, squeezing it lightly, before releasing it. They had a special bond, probably one that not many would udnerstand. She enjoyed his company and really loved being with him. They had been through a lot together, so she trusted him with pretty much everything. "You look pale." she commented, her brow suddenly furrowed slightly in concern. "It can't be approaching so soon...?" The new moon, of course. She'd only went with him, once, under James and Sirius' fierce protection, but he feared for her safety. Wanting to abide by his wishes, she'd simply waited up for him in the enterance hall or by the lake with Peter until sunrise.
"So what have you been up to?"
Instantly, her smile returned and she grabbed up her book and showed it to him proudly. "Professor Sprout lent it to me, it looks fascinating!" she declared brightly, joy dancing in her eyes. She really did love her books and her schoolwork.

Remus noted the shirt she was wearing and realized the humor behind it. Likely it was true in most situations, for the weakness of a Gryffindor was sometimes their ego, at that thought he immdediatly thought of James and Sirius. He shrugged, as far as he was concerned the only reason was that he just happened to be there. Or maybe it was the fact that he just lingered behind Lily's shadow all the time.
"I don't know, I guess its just because he's there..." He said with another shrug, and then nodded in agreement. Sometimes you couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor guy, what had he ever done wrong. At that he remembered sneaking out with Sirius, the memory still livid in his brain and unfortunate at that.
Remus could spend all day with Delilah, one of his better friends that was a girl. There was Lily, but that would always be friends, then there was Ripley, where he just didn't know what the hell was going on, and then there was here, they already had done something special. "What? Oh, no. Just i've been better. Thats all." He said, not sure why he would look off. A smile appeared, showing that he was indeed fine, not currently remembering the next moon cycle.
Remus looked at the book and smiled. "Thats neat, looks like an interesting read." He said looking at the cover again. Books were facisnating to him, and therefore James and Sirius bugged him about it. Looking at her again, he wondered what would have happened if they hadn't been drunk in that situation.

"I don't know, I guess its just because he's there..."
Delilah shook her head slightly, with a light frown present on her lips. "I know they're boys and it's what they do but I still feel bad for him sometimes." Often, she didn't understand the reasoning behind James and Sirius' taunts and escapades. As for her, she'd rather sit down with a good read or with a good friend to talk quietly or just spend time together. That was one of the things she knew she could always count on Remus for.
"What? Oh, no. Just i've been better. Thats all."
Giving a bit of a sad smile, Dell reached up and pushed a bit of hair out of his face, searching his eyes to make sure he was telling her the truth. She was very caring, especially to her friends and wanted to make sure everything was okay. But then he smiled and she returned it, knowing now that he was being honest. "Alright then. But I'm coming with you next time." she said with a slight nod, letting her hand fall from his face. "I worry too much if I'm not there."
There were only a select few that Delilah opened herself up to, and Remus was one of the lucky few. They had shared something special; they were each other's first and that not only gave them a powerful bond, but also allowed a bit more of a physical relationship to exist without awkwardness. Meaning, of course, what had already been done; small, comforting, friendly touches and a few hugs or cheek-kisses every now and again. In her heart she would always hold a special place for the quiet boy she'd grown very fond of. Though sometimes she wondered if they'd ever be anything more, or if they had beforehand... where would they be now? Dell had a feeling they'd be happy.
"Thats neat, looks like an interesting read."
Blinking out of her small reverie, her bright, happy smile returned. "Oh, it is." she assured him. "I'm only on the second page but it's already really good." True, she hadn't read past the second page or with complete concentration, but... from what she did absorb it was great.

Remus nodded in agreement, in all honesty he never saw anything bad in Snape, well except his choices for friends and house affiliate of course. But he never bothered them, his nose in a book just as much as Remus himself had one. But then again they bugged him about that, maybe it was just some universal ridicule for the ability to read, because sometimes he doubted that Sirius or James could read themselves.
He couldn't help but grin a little at her touch, good thing there was nobody in the library or they might have recieved a few stares, especially from those who knew Remus and that more often that not he was usually alone in the Library. Most of his friends were much too loud for this place. "Alright." He said, having no problem with it. She as an exception, but if Rip found out that she was allowed, then she just might stomp through a wall.
Besides Lily, Del was the only girl that Remus had more of a physical relationship, well with Lily it was just flirting all the time, which she started, and with Del it was just normal and didn't bother him. They had done more than most friends did, so it wasn't a big deal at all. Still the question often popped into his head in the middle of writing an essay, on what they would have done if they were pushed together like that but not drunk. We'll he figured that he maybe would have done it, he honestly didn't have a clue.
"Did you borrow it from somebody? 'Cause it seems better than most of the books found in here..." Yes, he was a bookworm who knew what could be generally found in the library and what couldn't be, but he wasn't afraid of teasing from her on that. "Anyway, what's new with you?" He asked, rather wanting to talk to her than do his homework.

"Alright."
Delilah let out a small sigh of relief; she knew how protective he could be sometimes, and how secretive and somewhat embarrassed he was about his erm... 'furry little problem.' But quite honestly, Delilah had no problem with it; he was her friend and she honestly, truly didn't mind at all. He was still Remus, he just had a time once a month where he got a bit snarly. Of course, James and Sirius had compared that to the "monthly cycle" all girls shared but Dell had simply brushed it off, it wasn't too funny or creative anyways. "Good." she said softly, smiling at him. "Then at least I wouldn't be up all night jumpy and talking Haley's arm off." she mused with a light chuckle.
"Did you borrow it from somebody? 'Cause it seems better than most of the books found in here..."
Blinking back to her book, the sparkle in her light blue eyes returned and she nodded. "Yes, I was lucky enough to be allowed to borrow it from Professor Sprout." she announced, casting the book a loving glance. "You know how I am with plants." Her fascination with nature was exponential, she enjoyed it greatly.
"Anyway, what's new with you?"
Delilah frowned lightly, the events of a few nights ago rushing back to her. Shaking her head slightly, her curls bouncing a bit, she lifted her eyes to his. "Got in a row with Micheal... again." she muttered, rummaging through her bag to avoid his gaze for the moment. "Apparently he found out about... well... the party." she hinted, trying to explain without exactly saying why her ex was yelling at her. Frowning a bit more deeply, she straightened once again and pulled up her sleeve, showing him her forearm that had five fading purple bruises in the shape of fingerprints. "Nasty little git grabbed me and called me a tramp." she huffed. "But he's just mad because I didn't jump in the sack with him." she said with a light smile. "Jealous twit."

People told him that his condition wasn't a bit deal to them, still he couldn't help but get the feeling that more people minded that didn't. So generally he just dealt with it in blatant pessimissm. And it really contradicted himself, he was shy and just more to himself and friends. Still that week of the month before the full moon made him all antsy and restless. Just feeling different, even more confident, still he never harnesed that before, so why start? He chuckled a little, it was nice to know that somebody cared. "Insomnia is such a curse sometimes, like before the full moon I can never sleep, I just feel restless. " He added.
"I still say your a Herbology Goddess or something." He thought outloud, it was her best subject and she did absolutely fantastic in that class. Sometimes he wondered if Sprout secretely wished she was in Hufflepuff instead, but of course it made sense, Ravenclaws were innately brilliant.
Her frown had him worry a little, surely nothing good. He nodded, listening, Micheal was her boyfriend, at least last time he checked, but she preoccupied herself, probably just as a distraction, well surely as one becuase he knew her too well to know that she was just stalling. And at the mention of the party and her bruises coming to light, he felt guilt in his chest, it was his fault. Holding her forearm with gentle ease, he looked at it. "He has not right to call you that. You know, I could think of some way for me, James and Sirius to get him back for you." He offered, still holding her hand in his now, a sign of comfort, but he still looked at the aftermath of his violence.

"Insomnia is such a curse sometimes, like before the full moon I can never sleep, I just feel restless. "
Delilah nodded and frowned, in sympathy for her friend. She knew how he got in the days before the full moon, and wished there was something she could do to put his mind at ease. Though she knew she'd probably be more than restless if it happened to her. "I wish you would sleep." she said softly, under her breath, knowing that the wish probably wouldn't come true. Poor Remus, what with Sirius and James causing trouble, he really needed his rest.
"I still say your a Herbology Goddess or something."
Dell blushed lightly at this, but smiled nonetheless. "I guess you could say that." she murmured with a light laugh. "I don't know why it fascinates me so much." She supposed it was because of her garden back home, it reminded her of her only escape int he Muggle world.
"He has not right to call you that. You know, I could think of some way for me, James and Sirius to get him back for you."
Smiling at the touch of his hand, Delilah noticed it quickly fading a bit as she searched his eyes, and inwardly winced. Guilt. When Sirius had found out he'd gone off the deep end, angry you see. She'd rather see Remus throwing a fit and being angry than guilty and upset. "I don't know..." she started, a light frown on her lips. "I'm afraid you'll make his brain explode, and then Sirius will rip him up, and then James will hit him with his broom and laugh." True, it was what might happen in a nutshell, but nonetheless...
His hand slid from her forearm to link with hers and she offered him a light smile and a squeeze, she wanted to console him, too. "Don't feel guilty." she said, looking deeply into his eyes so he'd know she was sincere. Placing her free hand over the one of his that was intertwined with hers, she patted it gently, fondly."We've talked about this, and it's not your fault my ex is a jealous prick." Her smile brightened a bit. "Besides, I kinda egged him on; told him you were a right lot better than I ever imagined he'd be." she chuckled lightly.

Remus just nodded a little, he wished he could sleep to, but there had been so much on his mind. With having to save James and Sirius all the time, he needed his energy, otherwise he'd be napping during lunch and not present when the two recieved their detentions or other form of punishment. Otherwise he was just worrying over things, like homework, or what Rip was up to, she was just acting so odd lately and it almost scared him to talk to her because she always acted like he was going to push her over. And then there were his other friends, James, Sirius, Delilah...yea, his mind wandered a bit.
Everybody had their strong points, Herbology wasn't difficult for Remus but he preffered Defense Against the Dark Arts like any good Gryffindor, still that subject was a cinch for her. "Guess your just a natural then."
His eyes locked with hers again, if he hadn't been drunk and with her then maybe she wouldn't be on the recieving end of jealousy. But fate liked to play its games too with them apparently. Remus listened to her predections and he figured that she had them just about right, "Hmm...didn't think of that, but I will keep it in mind." He replied, no he wouldn't do that but maybe confund him for a day or change his skin color permanently.
They held each other's hand and with her it felt natural, nice, her light blue eyes looking into his bright blue orbs to tell him that it wasn't his fault, though he still felt a small part in it. And then she mentioned ex, so they broke up, his guess was that she broke up with him, and that helped. Her comment made his cheeks take on a slight pink color. "Thanks..." He'd make sure to mentally take a note of that, and with that said his eyes just looked at her's, just one of those moments where nothing was said and you read each other anyway.

"Hmm...didn't think of that, but I will keep it in mind."
Not remembering for the moment that she was in the library, Delilah laughed aloud. Not rudely or obnoxiously, but enough that if other people had been in there they would've glared at her. As if realizing that it had been a bit too loud for her taste, she covered her mouth with her free hand and looked at Remus a bit sheepishly, her face dusting a deep shade of pink. 'Oops...'
After a moment, when she was sure that Madame Pince wasn't going to run after her and chase them out, Delilah lowered her hand and her face returned to normal. Her eyes danced as she looked up at Remus with a light smile tugging on her lips. "Sad thing is, the only thing James would be able to think of would be hitting him with his broom."
Taking her thumb and gently moving it over his knuckles, she frowned lightly at how coarse they were for a boy his age. But she knew with all the trouble he'd gotten into and all the things that had happened to him while he was a werewolf was probably the cause. Delilah hated the circumstances surrounding his situation. How discriminative people could be, and how Remus was the last person on Earth who deserved it.
"Thanks..."
Giving him one of her trademark, bright smiles, Delilah nodded, once. "Anything for you." she said lightly with hidden laughter dancing him her eyes, before her eyes drifted back down to his knuckles and the light frown returned. "I wish you'd be more careful..." she muttered, her brow furrowed in concern.

Her laugh made him smile. Good thing there was nobody else in the library except them, even the Librarian seemed to be missing. And even as she blushed from the laugh, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. She could do that easily, just make him feel better no matter what. It was funny how comfortable he was around her, even more than Ripley or his other friends.
"True, he expects me to think of something for him to do." Remus said with amusement in his voice. James would go along with Sirius to rip him up, but he'd rather have glory and do something spectacular and unforgettable. Remus would be happy with just leaving him with something hard to reverse, like making his brain explode. Becuase obviously he wasn't smart if he was treating Del like this.
Her eyes went from his to his hand, there weren't many scars on them, just a few on his knuckles. "I'm fine. I just worry about you sometimes." He admitted. The other three could transform and help him when he transformed, but when Del was there, he just worried that he could lose control moreso and do something regrettable. The Willow itself was dangerous enough, and the beast that lay in it's secret was worse.

"True, he expects me to think of something for him to do."
Delilah laughed again her eyes shining, though she managed to keep the volume down this time to a resonable level. Still, she hid what part of her face that she could with her hand as she laughed, a trait that had been developed as a young child. Her mother, the ever-perfect and beautiful model, had once commented on how her teeth made her look mousy when she laughed. Even though Dell had not only gone through Muggle braces, but a few spells in the Hospital Wing years ago and now was happy with her teeth, it was still a habit that she couldn't shake. Another sign of her shyness, she supposed. "What would they do without you?" she mused, as he light laughter faded, but leaving amused blue eyes in its wake. "Besides be either dead or expelled by now."
"I'm fine. I just worry about you sometimes."
Delilah blinked a bit, looking up at him, before her lips tugged upward into a smile. She knew how bad he would feel if something happened to her, which is why she never stayed in with him alone. Sirius, at least, was always with her, and nine times out of ten so were James and Peter. She didn't fear him, not at all, but she knew that he'd always worry even when she tried to convince him otherwise. Her smile still apparant, she patted his hand once again and leaned sideways to rest her head against his shoulder, briefly. "I'll be alright." she murmured, still frowning at the scars but letting the topic drop. "Thank you for worrying about me." she murmured, giving a low, relaxed sigh. Remus just had that effect on her; if she was stressed he could show up and she'd be relaxed. But other things were on her mind as of now, and her blue eyes, which had drifted closed in peace and contentment, snapped open. "James..." he said softly, thinking of what had conspired between he and Lily. "James is the one I'm worried about right now, besides you of course."
