Explanation of Positions...
Keeper
There is one Keeper on each team. The Keeper's job resembles that of the goalie in Muggle soccer. The Keeper's job is to stop the Chasers from putting the red Quaffle through any one of the three goal hoops, thus keeping them from scoring.
Seeker
Each team has one Seeker. The Seeker plays probably the most important part in the game because without the Seekers the game would never end. The Seeker is usually the smallest and quickest of any of the players on the Quidditch field. Because the Seeker is so important they are fouled the most by the other team. The Seeker's job is to fly around the game, keeping an eye out for the Golden Snitch. The Golden Snitch is the most important of the four balls used in the game of Quidditch because once it is caught the game is over. The Snitch is a tiny gold ball with wings that zooms around very quickly. The team whose Seeker catches the Snitch is awarded one hundred and fifty (150) points, and that team almost always wins the match.
Chaser(s)
On each Quidditch (active) team there are three Chasers. The Chasers play with the red Quaffle ball. Their job is to pass the Quaffle around and score by throwing it through one of their opponent's three large gold hoops that are raised 50 feet from the ground. Each time they do this they score 10 points for their team.
Beater(s)
Each Quidditch (active) team has two Beaters. The Beaters try to protect their team from the Bludgers, black balls that zoom around and try to knock players off their brooms. The Beaters carry short clubs which they use to beat the Bludgers away from their own players and then knock them toward the players of the opposing team.
