James Potter sat, alone, staring out at the setting sun. It was a warm Saturday nearing it's end. 'The day couldn't have gone better,', he'd decided earlier as he'd strolled out of the castle after dinner to take his nightly walk around outside. No classes, he'd actually been caught up with his homework, (thanks to Remus) wrote a letter to his mother and hung out with the Marauders. Deeper than he seemed, James Potter now wanted to sit and relax and think about, well... what one thinks about when watching the sun set.
It was almost sad, realizing that next year would be his last year, and some of his older friends wouldn't be there with him. 'Everything's changing.'
Shaking his head a bit, James tried to clear it and push away these strange and melancholy thoughts. Lately he'd been strange, finding times to go off on his own and beginning to already miss his friends that were right next to him. He needed to fix whatever was bugging him. 'I need to mess with Snivellus.' he groused. 'That's the problem. Where's he gotten to, anyway? I miss annoying the hell out of the git.'
A soft breeze blew his untidy black hair around hazel eyes and he sighed, pulling her knees up, resting his arms on them and then placing his chin on his hands. His friends were growing up, and so was he. Everything, all the years and memories had gone by so fast. Soon, that's all they would be -- Memories.
He was just beginning to think about her parents when he noticed footsteps approaching. Instantly, he tensed, and stood up, looking about to see who it was.

"Right, left, another right, and up the staircases, passed the suit of armor that clucks because of a third year's curse that went astray." Coal colored eyes rolled at the stupidity of some students, as Severus spoke out loud and retraced the familiar steps that he had been taking for five days straight this week. The Slytherin was expecting to be meeting up with the head girl again, but it seemed that the chances of that happening were looking slim to none since word around the common room was that the almighty Rodolphus Lestrange was keeping his little minx on a very short leash these days. Personally if it had been Severus he would have had her on a short leash since day one.
A girl like Bellatrix Black was not someone you trust just like that. She was the type of girl you had to keep a close eye on, because if you didn't she was likely to kill you while your attention was else where. The eldest Black sister was not only a basket case, but she addicted to anything, and everything bad for her. Unfortunately the sixth year was also addicted to those things bad for him. Not only was he shagging Bella every chance he got, his mind wasn't even on her half the time. Lily Evans. She was utter perfection, and Severus couldn't keep his thoughts from wandering to her each free moment. It was pathetic that he was still holding on to what could have been.
The corridors seemed to be dark and unwelcoming even during the day, and as the Slytherin ventured further down them in search of the dark-haired beauty. He had just gotten to the entrance of where the heads tower was when the sounds of people yelling could be heard. Rather than find himself in a situation that was undesirable, the sixteen year old pushed himself against a wall in the shadows, his dark robes blending in perfectly. The screaming only seemed to get louder as the Slytherin couple came closer. Bella's voice was dripping with venom, while Rodolphus' voice was cold and distant. This probably meant that their meeting was canceled for today, since Severus did want to live, and the Head boy would like nothing better than to put him at the receiving end of a jet of green light.
Darkly he watched as Rodolphus spoke the password calmly to the entrance, and they disappeared leaving not even slightly aware that he had been there watching. Feeling a little defeated Severus passed a hand through his dark locks. Despite whatever thought, they weren't greasy... Okay, maybe just a little, but he spent most of his time bent over a steamy cauldron filled with toxic chemicals and ingredients. What would they expect his hair to feel like, cotton candy? Wait.. that's wasn't the right thing he wanted to compare soft hair to.
Severus could feel the tension building up in his veins. He needed to get out. Just get out of the school, and into the fresh air. Normally he would have gone back to the common room, and vented to someone, like Lucius, or, if he possibly could, corner Lily and make her listen to his troubles. Then again, this wasn't exactly the kind of subjects he could talk to the Gryffindor about. He was well aware how she felt, and it would be like pouring salt over an open wound.
It seemed to take forever to leave the school walls. Maybe it would just the thoughts of the red head weighing the Slytherin down. He needed to see her. He was going to go up to that common room, just as he had done many times, and demand to see the green-eyed beauty. It was the only chance he had since Potter, and his groupies had been keeping a close watch, lately. He really wish that they would all just give him probable cause to try out one of the new dark curses he had been practicing. That was something that would make his day.
As if Merlin had hard his plea the mistakable frame of Potter close near by came into view. Jet black orbs glare in his direction. “Fuck.” Severus didn't even know how the hell he had gotten to the lake, it was like his legs had a mind of their own, but this was the last thing he needed. That egotistical prick would like nothing better than to exploit the sixth year's slightly weak state. Turning he started to walk in the opposite direction, hoping he hadn't been spotted first.

Sirius had been walking around aimlessly through the castle without a purpose or even within good reason. Currently he found himself stuck on the latest trend of looking lost wherever he went. It had been a lazy day with no classes and earlier he had hung around his best friends the marauders. He had been trying to focus on all the things that would not stop running through his head. His thoughts kept on coming back full swing to James's comment about it being their last year, he thought he'd never hear it out in the open as James had so bluntly put it. In fact he couldn't help but be a little bit surprised that they had lasted this long. It was almost a miracle within itself that they hadn't been killed yet or something like with all the insane things that they had been pulling for years. Sirius himself was only surprised that he had yet to been hunted down by his family, and perhaps dragged home to have his throat slit and thrown in some ditch. He was forever testing their patience and perhaps one day they would crack. Pureblood traitors were only allowed to live so long before some loyal Slytherin extinguished them. Speaking of loyal Slytherins, where was Snivelly today? He hadn't seent he poor excuse for a human being for nearly a few days now, which was disturbing within itself.
With that thought in mind, Sirius happened to look up at that exact moment and see the billowy robe tail of that certain Slytherin that happened to make a perfect target. Smirking to himself, Sirius snuck quietly towards the corner to see the retreating back of none other than Severus Snape. Fresh meat. How much more perfect can this get? Sirius thought to himself as he followed dwindling behind in the Slytherin's wake, he had been to far away to make much noise or draw any attention. The people that passed looked disinterested, especially since Snivellius was probably directing their attention elsewhere since the sight of him was known to stain the retinas permanantly. Stifling the laugh at his own inward joke, Sirius found himself following Severus through the corridors of Hogwarts leading outside. He didn't know what Severus was doing or where he planned on going, but once he stopped Sirius was planning on jinxing him. Too bad James wasn't here, that would've been great they could have ganged up on the greasy haired Slytherin. Maybe that would've been enoguh to cheer James up, he had been looking rather down lately.
They hit the grounds sooner than Sirius had expected and now they were floundering along the dewey grass in the midday sun. Sirius was flanking Severus from far behind now just in case the paranoid Slytherin turn his back suddenly without warning. Sirius had known how paranoid Severus had always been - or rather the marauders had made him. They had caused the hooked nosed Slytherin to fear anything and everything around him - to doubt things that probably shouldn't have been doubted because they tended to pull pranks on him left and right without warning. This made Sirius smile, he was definitely plotting something as he saw the figure in the distance, Severus seemed to be heading towards that place. Although he was still to far away, Sirius could barely make out of the figure of James Potter, and found himself rather mistaking it for one of Snivellius's buddies.
As they snuck a little closer to the figure, James Potter came into view and by Severus's loud curse it was realizable that he had just seen what he had walked into. Sirius had advanced quietly behind him in those few minutes that Severus had had his abck turned towards him. "Not so fast Snivellius, we're not done with you yet." Sirius smirked, his wand was drawn and pointed directly at Snape. He winked at James over Severus's shoulder, now they could really have some fun.

“Fuck.”
Of course James had seen the prick; how could he have missed him? The little bugger left a trail of grease whereever he went; equivalent to that of a slug and its slime. While James was approaching the slimy little git, he was silently praising the heavens for sending Snivellus his way. With everything that had been happening, James had been on a sort of emotional roller coaster. He knew that in order to make his way back up to the top with his friends, he would need some good old toture-Snape action. He was ecstatic to finally have met up with him.
"No thanks," he responded to Snape's loud curse, he hadn't missed that either. "I'd rather not, if it's all the same to you. Makes me want to let someone kill me slowly with a plastic fork, even at the thought." Letting a smirk weave across his features. Having not yet spotted his womanizing friend behind Snape, James only wished Sirius could join him. it wasn't really all that amusing until Padfoot was there-
"Not so fast Snivellius, we're not done with you yet."
Joy leaped into James's eyes as he spotted none other than whom he had been wishing was present - Sirius Black. Catching his friend's wink, James returned it with one of his own. Deciding to have a bit of fun, he jogged past Snivellus to Sirius's side, reaching out with one hand to shove him a bit clumsily. Stopping when he reached Sirius and spinning around, James held up his hand and winced. "Damn, Sirius, now it's contaminated. I'll have to cut it off."

Shit. That was all that could be said. Not only had Potter spotted him, but his lap dog, Black was closing in too. Not really closing in so much as standing right behind Severus. Right now, Lestrange's wrath wasn't looking too bad as Potter jogged passed him shoving the Slytherin back. Snape would have lost his footing had he not been expecting something so childish from the Gryffindor who was more muscle than brains. Slowing taking out his wand, the six year preformed a powerful cleaning, and sanitizing charm on the spot where James' hand had been. "I know you're a little bit of a poof, Potter, but please refrain from touching me. You're not my type." A smirk slipped on to the pale features as he took a step back glaring at the pair of Gryffindor imbeciles.
"I think you two should really think about seeking professional help. It can't be healthy to have this unnatural obsession with me." He was one to talk about unhealthy obsession. "How about we all be mature about this, and just go our separate ways before someone gets hurt. Wouldn't want to end up in Azkaban, now would we, Black?" He gazed lazily over at Sirius. Sure, the Headmaster had let them off once, but there was no way he could keep defending the small gangs antics, right? After all someone did almost die the last time. If he would have thought it safe, the sixteen year old Slytherin would have turned his back and walked away, being the bigger person. Which was probably a little un-Slytherin like.
A mental shrug passed, and pushed those thoughts away as Severus' hand tightened on his wand, just in case the two even tried anything. A few dark hexes, and curses were running through his head. Fuck, only doing mild damage. Gods knew he was keeping sick and tired of them ganging up on him. If given the chance Snape would show them a thing or two. Maybe like the cutting curse he had been working on. It was still being tested, but what better chance to try it out then on Potter and Black. If they were smarter than they looked the two quidditch players would leave, but knowing them, and their arrogance there wasn't a chance in hell they would pass up a chance to humiliate Sev.
“Well this has been a lovely tea party, but if you'll excuse me, ladies. I have more important things that need my attending to.” There were potions that needed brewing, and a muggle born girl who he almost desperately needed to talk to. “Don't bugger each other too hard, or whatever you two do when you're alone.” With that the Slytherin stood there trying to think of a way to walk from them without being to vulnerable to their wands.

His wand was still pointing at Snivellius, he watched as James pushed past him and couldn't help but laugh at James's comment. "Nah, I've got a bottle of alcohol in the room." Sirius replied with a smirk, although he might have not been refering to the kind that you usually used to sanitize things. "Although, I'd say we should take the whole arm off just for precaution first, wouldn't want to catch what Snivellius has." Sirius replied as if were one of the more horrible conditions that someone could come down with.
"Look at that Prongs, I think that Snviellius just admitted to being gay." Sirius jabbed his wand in the air a few inches in Snape's direction at those words, grinning wildly as if he had just hit the jackpot. "The rumors are true, you should go find your buddy Malfoy and see if he'll take you back." Sirius remarked snidely, his grey eyes a light with the juicy piece of information he was now disgusting. "Unhealthy obsession? I think you're dreadfully wrong, anyone who has an unhealthy obsession with you needs to get their eyes checked." Sirius interjected into Snape's arguement, he seemed to be trying to get out of the situation that he currently found himself stuck in. But Sirius would never allow for that, torchuring Snivellius seemed to be one of the few things that would possibly cheer James up. "Are you to scared to take on a few Gryffindors, Snivellius?" Sirius asked aloud, realizing how Severus was trying to get out of the clearing as soon as he could. "Slytherins really are wimps." Sirius stated loudly as he turned an eye towards James waiting for a nod of agreement.
Sirius laughed a little to loudly at Severus's comment about Azkaban, "If anyone's going to end up in Azkaban, it's going to be you, dabbling in the Dark Arts isn't the best hobby to flaunt." Everyone knew that Severus always had his head stuck in a book about the Dark Arts, or illegal curses, or something forbidden. Sirius was surprised that no one had ever interjected in it, but than there were many other Slytherins who were all doing the same exact thing.
"I didn't think that playing with your dolls was top priority Snivellius." Sirius stated when Severus was trying to find an escape from the conversation again. There was no way in hell that they'd be letting him off that easy, no whenever they got lucky and ran into Snape they would make sure that he hung around for a while well they both got a shot at him. It was all a game to them really, that was even after someone got hurt because than revenge was truly needed and necessary. Not that it couldn't be done, but the whole point of it was to get Snape back tenfold every time they saw him for whatever he did or didn't do last time they met. Sirius still had his wand pointed at Snape, and if the greasy git even did turn his back just a little bit Sirius wouldn't have hesitated to curse him.

"I know you're a little bit of a poof, Potter, but please refrain from touching me. You're not my type."
James couldn't help but laugh aloud at that one. Oh, Snivellus thought he was clever, did he? That may have been true, to an extent, but Sirius and James had ways of turning most of what the Slytherin said against him, not matter how childish or immature it sometimes sounded. Most of the time, the two Gryffindors had pretty good comebacks, and worked together well with insults because of their deep friendship and similar thought patterns. Of course, at that one, James thought of the perfect comeback. Grinning inwardly to himself, he opened his mouth to speak, when-
"Look at that Prongs, I think that Snviellius just admitted to being gay. The rumors are true, you should go find your buddy Malfoy and see if he'll take you back."
James passed a wry grin to his friend, giving a deep bow, flourishing his wand in one hand. "Ah, beat me to the punchline." he said with a wink, before jumping back into the 'conversation.' "Well, well, well, Padfoot, I must say I agree. But we must not let Professor Slughorn, sir, find out about it, sir, or poor Snivellus might be taken out of the Slug Club. Sir." he snickered, trying to convey a pathetic impression of Snape worshiping the potions master.
"I think you two should really think about seeking professional help. It can't be healthy to have this unnatural obsession with me."
James snorted at this, rolling his eyes a bit. "What's unhealthy is the amount of grease you manage to package in that freaky little shell you call a body." he sneered, meeting Sirius' eye and grinning. "I'm surprised you haven't managed to drown yourself yet." He sighed, shaking his head. "Such a shame."
"Are you to scared to take on a few Gryffindors, Snivellius? Slytherins really are wimps."
James laughed aloud at that one, giving the nod of agreement he knew Sirius was looking for. "I'd probably be a wimp too if I was in Slytherin." he commented casually, giving a small shrug. "I mean, the stench of Snivelly alone is enough to make me wanna run to the Owlery, at least the air's fresher there."
"How about we all be mature about this, and just go our separate ways before someone gets hurt. Wouldn't want to end up in Azkaban, now would we, Black?"
"If anyone's going to end up in Azkaban, it's going to be you, dabbling in the Dark Arts isn't the best hobby to flaunt."
James scoffed, raising his wand to be nearly eye level with Snape. He'd grown up, always knowing the terrors of Azkaban. The thought of his best friend, even when said by the stupid little worm Snivellus was, in such a horrid place made the hairs on the back of James' neck stand up. Freaky. "Come off it." he said somewhat sharply. "Wouldn't want to talk too fast and choke on your own slime."
"I didn't think that playing with your dolls was top priority Snivellius."
James' hazel eyes flickered briefly to Sirius, before shifting back to Snape. He recognized this old tatic of his that he simply wanted to leave; but of course that wasn't going to happen. James was feeling better with every insult, and if things went the way he wanted he predicted that he be almost back to normal by dinner. "Oh, you're not running away, slimeball." he growled, taking a step forward and flicking his wand. "Levicorpus!"
(( The same one he used in Book Five, the dangling spell. If you want it to take effect, Sevvie, great, if not, James can nurture his bruised ego later. xD ))
