Martial Status: Single. And wishes he could have a certainLily someone.
School
Desired Year: Sixth
Wand: 13 inch birch; unicorn tail hair
Pet: A tawny owl called Aberforth.
House: Gryffindor
Family
Heritage: English, Wizard, Pure-blood
Financial Status: Middle [not too badly off, but not rich either]
Father: Frederick Potter, employee of the 'Improper Use of Magic' department at the Ministry of Magic.
Mother: Penelope Thomas-Potter, Auror
Siblings: James is an only child.
Guardians/Other Family: James, due to the lack of brothers and sisters, has formed a close bond with his two cousins, Elizabeth and Daniel. They're a year below him and in Ravenclaw, however, but during his childhood and the summer was the times that they spent together, and their bond may be distant but it will always be strong.
Appearance
Character Representation: Robbie Jarvis
Hair Description: James has rather shaggy and unkempt black hair. One of his trademark moves is ruffling it a bit, or pushing through it with his hand. In his mind this makes him appear more windswept and as though he's just gotten off of his broom; nonsense of course. In fact, it makes him look rather as though he's just been struck by lightning.
Eye Description: James is known for his round hazel eyes. They are always bright or have some sort of glint to them, making him out to be laughing at some inner joke [which he usually is.] His eyes also carry a mischievous glint to them, and has been described at times to be almost childlike. His eyes reflect his personality; serious when necessary, and a complete goof the rest of the time.
Physical Appearance: Though James had maintained average height and a slim build, he is actually very muscular from Quidditch training. Some have described him as 'lanky', but he simply has a high metabolism and love for the fast-moving, high-energy sport. His face is oval-shaped, lightly dotted with brown freckles, complete with a long nose and a big, trademark, cheeky grin.
Predominant Feature(s): Unless you count his "unrelenting charm"... then nothing, really.
Clothing: James is usually pretty casual. When not in his traditional Gryffindor robes, he can be seen wearing a loose pair of Muggle jeans and some sort of polo tee with gym shoes. He doesn't really take much time to dress up, seeing as he'd rather be comfortable than stylish. He's taken a favor to the color red however; perhaps partially because it is the predominant color of his house.
Mind Set
Sexual Preference: Straight
General Attitude: Although when showing off for his friends and girls he seemed to be a bit of a prat, James is actually quite down-to-Earth. He always tries to look on the bright side of things and subtly encourages his friends to do the same. He has taken a sort of leadership role in his band of Marauders, and takes it quite seriously. He believes in doing what is right, and although it seems hard to believe, is a softie at heart. He can be quite straightforward, though, and won't take crap from anyone. EspeciallySnivellus Severus.
Likes: Quidditch, hanging out with his friends, showing off, playing pranks, and of course, eating and sleeping.
Dislikes: Pure-blood supremacy, homework assignments, boring classes, and Severus Snape.
Abilities: James is excellent at Quidditch, first and foremost. He's also exceptionally gifted in DADA, along with charms and Transfiguration.
Bad Habits: James is a bit of a show-off, when around his friends or others that look up to him. Sometimes he gets too carried away, and can be a bit rude.
History: As a Pureblood, James had always known in his heart that he would be attending Hogwarts. (never mind the subtle fear of being the only Potter Squib.) Still, he was overjoyed when he received his Hogwarts letter. With his parents, he shopped for materials and items he'd need, all the while his anticipation growing.
When he finally arrived at the place he'd longed to be for nearly a decade, he was a bit terrified. Feeling quite alone, he soon found solace in none other than a few other unlikely loners- Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and unfortunately, Peter Pettigrew. Throughout the years, the bond the four boys had created their first year at Hogwarts blossomed and grew into a wonderful friendship that now is stronger than ever. Deciding that, since they all (even subtly sometimes) shared the same mischievous desires, the quartet created what was later named 'The Marauder's Map.' James was extremely proud of their creation.
Although he has changed and grown throughout his years at Hogwarts, James still managed to maintain his mischievous spirit, and sometimes that got him into trouble. Particularly with one whom he wished he'd never made angry in the first place- Lily Evans. From the moment he saw her he knew that she was special, but of course his pride and fear of his friend's taunts prevented him from doing anything about it. So, of course, they became almost... enemies. Still, James is determined that one day, just maybe they can at least become friends.

"I do NOT!" came the loud, obviously distressed voice of James Potter, and with a "hmph" worthy of a Slytherin, he began trumping up the steps. Turning a complete about-face. James crossed his arms stubbornly and stuck his nose in the air. How dare that silly first year even fathom the ridiculous notion that he, the esteemed James William Potter, would ever, EVER have feelings for Lily Evans?! It was absolutely absurd and... and... absolutely... correct.
His shoulders slumped and he sighed as he made his way into the Common Room, flopping down into his large armchair. His fingertips reached up to soothe a pounding headache, the likes of which had no signs of weakening any time soon. It was true he loved the redheaded woman, how could he not? She was strong, and kind, and brave and.. and... She hates your pratty guts. You've got NO chance.
"Your feelings for her are completely obvious, you know."
James scowled as he kicked up his feet to rest on the table in front of him. Earlier, he'd only just managed to escape one of Remus's infamous lectures, and, as usual, it had put him in a bit of a sour mood. 'Moony is my friend and I care about him, of course I do, but if he turns into a mini Mum I'm going to let Buckbeak rip my head off and feed it to the Giant Squid.' he thought sourly, and took his anger out on a pillow in the form of tossing it across to the empty couch parallel to him.
Still, his heart longed for her, and it only made it that much harder that she was partnered with him in Potions for a few weeks for a long project.. His hands itched to touch her, but... he wouldn't allow it. Never. She deserved way better than him.
Animagi:
Desired Animagi Form: Stag
Why You Chose That Form: James figured that the stag would not only be commonly overlooked if spotted in the Forbidden Forest, but also that it would be a smart idea to have antlers. You know, in case Moony, er... had a fit or something.

The stars twinkled down on him that night, as they did almost every night it seemed. He'd lost track of the nights - making tally marks in the temporarily frozen Whomping Willow was becoming quite redundant. He'd lost track at twenty-something.
James sighed inwardly and continued on through the hillside, pushing through the endless stretch of beautiful grass and herbs below him. The winds picked up the ends of his now fine brown fur and pushed them up wards a bit, against the grain. His once hazel, now turned dark grey eyes pierced through the night as he stared straight ahead, searching for that something, some sort of sign that everything was okay.
Even after all this time, James Potter worried about Remus Lupin. In his heart, he knew there was absolutely nothing he could do for his beloved intelligent friend, but that didn't mean he wouldn't do everything in his power to try.
Sirius was with him now, as always, until the Wolfsbane potion kicked in entirely. They were both based as dogs, you see. Until his friend calmed down, James would like to remain not a midnight snack of his currently deranged friend, thank you.
He approached the lake, just barely letting himself be seen from the shadows. He knew Pettigrew was out there somewhere, but he couldn't see or hear him. James lowered his now-transformed head into the shimmering waters and took a long drink. Sirius was taking longer than usual sending for him, so James concluded that perhaps Moony was a bit more restless this night.
Prongs receded back into the shadows. Even though he was currently a harmless, unsuspicious stag, he still felt a bit vulnerable in the moonlight.
